Campeggio Villaggio Torre Del Porticciolo
[ ALGHERO (SS) - Sardinia ]

Details
The Camping Village overlooks a wide, beautiful bay on the north-west coast of Sardinia.
10 kilometres from the Alghero-Fertilia airport and 20 kilometres from the port of Porto Torres, the site is 15 kilometres from the historic, walled centre of Alghero with its Gothic-Aragonese churches, a Catalonian city, island within the island.
Inside the Porto Conte natural park, the village faces onto a crystalline sea which at sunset takes on the colours of fire, with the Aragonese tower erected on the promontory to defend the bay and the Mediterranean scrubland with its scents of wild flowers and herbs. All of this is surrounded by dense pinewood with maritime pines, juniper, strawberry trees, myrtle, mastic and dwarf palms.
The extraordinary beauty of the landscape in the area makes Torre del Porticciolo an unforgettable place, particularly suitable for those who want to spend a holiday of sun, relaxation, nature and fun in the environs of the suggestive city of Alghero, the most important tourist centre on the Coral Riviera.
The famous Grottos of Neptune, the largest underwater cave complex of the whole Mediterranean, are just 10 kilometres from the Camping Village. The Grottos may be reached by sea, leaving from the port, or by land, climbing down the Escala del Cabirol, from where it is possible to take in the panorama over one of the most beautiful seas of Sardinia, from the enchanting bay of Porto Conte, passing the city of Alghero, through to the southern coast of Bosa.
The most beautiful beaches of the coast of Alghero, some 80 kilometres in all, are to be found in the immediate vicinity of the Camping Village.
Thanks to the sea and to its history, Alghero – also called ‘little Barcelona’ – is the Sardinian city with the greatest tourist appeal.

In the area of Capo Caccia there is the Grotta di Nereo, thought to be the largest underwater grotto of the Mediterranean, with the characteristic presence of red coral, the Grotte di Punta Salinetto and the Grotta dei Cerianthus, where it is possible to meet up with curious groper fish, and the grotta Belvedere.
These are all found in the area of the Foradada island, known for its grottos. In the area of Punta Giglio there is the Grotta di Falco, characterised by its vaulted ceiling covered with red coral and the Grotta dei Cervi where a fossilised layer of deer bones has been found within the calcite.

From the port of Alghero it is possible to go on excursions by motor boat or to rent zodiac inflatables and other boats. To get to know more distant sites, it is enough to take advantage of the trips organised from time to time to the best known beaches of this part of Sardinia: Stintino, Bosa, the island of Asinara.

Restaurant:
The “I Velieri” restaurant in the “Torre del Porticciolo” holiday village bases its cuisine on a careful mix of the gastronomic traditions of the town of Alghero in particular and Sardinia in a more general way.
Our seafood dishes trace their origins back to Catalan, Spanish, Sardinian and Genoese cooking which has slowly been altered, but has always made the most of the goodness of the fish caught in Sardinian waters, where the Mediterranean is at its most generous.
The strong flavours and body of typical Sardinian cookery are enhanced in dishes that come from the interior of the island.

Bar - Boutique:
The village is equipped with all the services necessary to guarantee a pleasant stay to its customers.
The bar is on the terrace behind the swimming pools in the shade of large palms and oleanders.
The supermarket supplies all kinds of products and there is a boutique offering a vast assortment of Sardinian craftwork in cork, bronze, textiles along with splendid jewellery in coral and gold, filigree work and silver.
