Bolzano, the “Gateway to the Dolomites”, is the largest and most noteworthy city in the region, and together with Innsbruck, is the capital of the Alps because the Alpine Convention has its operative seat here. It’s important to know that this marvellous place hosts the world-famous Museum of Archaeology with the Iceman “Ötzi”, a well-preserved mummy of a man dating about 3300 BC, as well as the Messner Mountain Museum. Finally, due to its colourful and characteristic Christmas market, Bolzano has been elected Italian Capital of Christmas, and attracts every year thousands of curious tourists.
