Venice
Venice is without doubt one of the most popular and beautiful places in the world and is always visited by crowds of tourists throughout the year. Founded more than 1,500 years ago, the city has about 100 islands and it’s linked by over 150 canals, 400 bridges and many old pavements. Venice is the only pedestrian city in the world, and the Grand Canal is its main interior waterway, that links all the districts. Rialto Bridge, lined by double arcades and packed with shops, is the first bridge ever built over the canal, which has since become one of the most important symbols of the city. Travelling along this canal is a great way to discover the city maybe by taking a vaporetto (water-bus) or the world-famous gondolas. But Venice is also known for its charming and beautiful attractions: St. Mark’s Square, heart of the city and drawing room of the Venetian society, is surrounded by porticoes with shops and cafés, and culminates in St. Mark’s Cathedral with its solitary, slender bell tower. The Doge’s Palace, a majestic example of Gothic architecture, and the Accademia Gallery with unique works of artists such as Bellini, Tintoretto, Tiziano and many others, are a must for anyone visiting this amazing place!
