Burano
Burano is a small island in the Venetian Lagoon famous for its characteristic colourful houses and for its lace. In the 16th century this picturesque place was simply a fishing village, but than its women developed a delicate and fine form of lace that still today attract tourists from all over the world, becoming one of the most important lacemaking centres in Europe.But Burano is not only lace: a stroll around the island reveals other enchanting attractions such as San Martino church with its leaning bell tower, the Museum and School of Lacemaking, and for gourmets trying the typical biscuits called “Essi” is a must!
